SARDINE - ISLINGTON

Sardine restaurant opened in Islington in July 2016 and focuses on Southern French cooking over a wood fire.  Sardine is headed up by Alex Jackson - Stevie’s former Head Chef at both The Dock Kitchen and Rotorino as a partnership with Stevie and his team.

The small but perfectly formed 45 cover restaurant, nestled within the same building as the Parasol unit art gallery, is created to offer simple, Southern French home style cooking to a growing community based near City Road between Old Street and Islington.

Sardine is open for breakfast lunch, dinner and drinks throughout the week, and brunch, lunch and dinner at the weekend.  Regular set feasting dinners and changing Sunday lunches add to the offering.

With a focus on seasonal, ingredient-led cooking, Sardine sources the best British produce available to create wholesome and pleasing dishes that embrace the rich culinary history of the South of France.  A specially commissioned indoor wood-fired grill dominates the open plan kitchen and allows for traditional cooking of meats a la ficelle, taking centre stage on the menu alongside snacks, starters, more grilled fish & meats and wondrous desserts.

Sardine’s bar welcomes visitors with its own small-serve signature petit aperitif cocktails from former Hawksmoor Spitalfields bartender, Clotilde Lataille who also manages the wine list comprising a good mix of mostly low intervention Italian and French wines, and also includes a number of varieties available on-tap.
