Makes about 4 cups
1 litre/1¾ pints water 5 tsp sugar, plus extra to serve 1 cinnamon stick 5 cardamom pods, shells cracked A pinch of saffron strands 2 tsp green or black tea leaves 1 tbsp ground almonds |
Place the water, sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and saffron in a pan and boil for 10 minutes until the air is fragrant with spices. Add the tea, then leave to brew for 5 minutes. Strain into cups, sprinkling a little ground almond into each cup.
Serve with extra sugar so people can sweeten the tea to their taste. |
